Aaron Lennon returns to training with Tottenham

• England winger suffered groin injury in December
• ‘We’ve got to take our time’ warns Harry Redknapp

The England winger Aaron Lennon has returned to training with Tottenham. Lennon has not played since suffering a groin injury in December and has missed Spurs’ last 19 matches in all competitions

“Today is the first day Aaron has joined in a training session, it’s his first morning back,” Harry Redknapp said. “It was great to see him out training but we’ve got to take our time, it’s important he doesn’t break down and have another setback.

“We’ll see how he goes this week, the physios will monitor his progress and they will let us know when he’s ready to come back and start playing again. He’s getting closer and that’s good news.”

The news is a great boost both to Spurs and Lennon himself who is facing a race against time to be fit for England’s World Cup campaign in South Africa.
